These guys managed to capture a 2.2 million volt lightning strike using just a thick piece of Plexiglass. As the lightning strike travels through it, it melts the plastic, leaving an imprint of the strike, called a Lichtenberg figure. Pretty cool, isn't it?

One of the newest and most advanced robot fish was presented in a London aquarium. The robot fish seems to be able not only to keep it's equilibrium in the water, but also to detect it's surroundings (aka doesn't bump into the glass wall of the aquarium ). This 1:3 scale masterpiece is the real thing in every sense, from its operating 100cc 12-cylinder engine to the exact scale operating Ferrari gauges which are calibrated precisely to indicate rpm, oil pressure, water temperature and oil temperature. It took Pierre 15 years and more than 20,000 hours to build this car! He learned to make glass so he could make the exact pattern lens for the operating headlights. He learned to make rubber so he could mold his own tires. The creator of the original gearbox even came out of retirement to produce an exact 1:3 scale version for the model. Apparently the old dude at the wheel of this car, went berserk like this because he lost his damn glasses I know it sucks, but that's not a good reason to take it out on everybody!

I've got to tell you, that I didn't believe in this myth. The energy from the mobile phone is so little that, you aren't able to get a spark. Things change if the energy is "stored" in the crumpled aluminum foil, and making lots of calls. The only realistic scenario I can come up with is that your car or some other piece of metal is already statically charged and your phone is the water drop that fills the glass. Anyway, it's very unlikely!

I don't believe it myself, but I don't have a spare piece of glass to try it. If anyone can, please confirm that it is possible to do this. Who would've thought that all you needed was water and scissors? Cool!

It was finally demonstrated how atoms arrange themselves inside the materials. This opens new possibilities for designing ultraresistant objects. Glass is a material called 'amorphous', whose atoms that is, are not disposed in a regular type structures crystal. The substance is not considered a solid but, rather, a liquid with very high viscosity. An international research team, led by Paddy Royall University of Bristol (Great Britain), in collaboration with Japanese and Australian scholars, is now able to demonstrate that during the solidification particles have in-shaped structures that prevent the icosahedron formation of crystals. Unlike solid crystalline form, in which the atoms are fixed to one another by chemical bonds into regular geometric structures, glass appears' solid 'just because the movement of each particle is physically prevented by the presence of other neighbouring atoms. The particles, that is, hinder each other. It was thus finally confirmed, with a simulation test, a 50 years old theory that explains many of the characteristics of this material and that could allow us to build, for example, non-crystalline metals much more resistant than traditional ones.
