I wouldn't want that man coming to my aid or attempting to chase down a criminal on foot. He was a vehicle patrolman... he could hardly get out of the car! Seriously, he was an impediment to the force in that capacity. The military has weight and fitness standards, the cops should as well. He was unable to perform his duties as required. I would be fired as well if I were not able to complete my tasks satisfactorily. He should not hold a position where his physical ability may be the major factor in saving someone's life. Desk duty or dispatch for you big guy.

It is ridicules. Look up the rules - a cop has to finish a mile in less than 9 minutes. The cops i see around Chicago sometimes are so fat that their car tilts when they drive. Now, how do they get to keep their job while other people who are mentally and physically more fit for the job cannot become an officer - BECAUSE there are too many cops! wtf. If a cop is unfit for a job they should be fired like anyone else in any other field. Simply put - if you cannot do your job THEN YOU SHOULD BE FIREd
